Position Description: The internship program with Outdoor Living Style provides a tremendous opportunity for students of landscape architecture or related landscape fields to gain hands on experience in a dynamic design / build work environment. The position provides direct experience with design/drafting work, construction estimating, office practice and hands on field installation experience.

Description of duties: The internship will provide experience with plan lettering and drafting, pencil and marker rendering, development of cross sections and construction details. Design support work will include preparation of xerographic copy materials including resizing drawings, preparing image paste ups and color reproductions. Special projects may include development of marketing graphics, multi media presentaions and construction training materials. Office support will include organizing and filing project information, entering and editing take offs for contracts, answering phones, and coordination direct mailings to prospective clients. The position will provide some hands on field experience with construction and planting projects. A primary focus of the field experience is to develop an understanding for construction technique, materials and process.

Qualifications: The prospective intern must possess good hand drafting, lettering and architectural graphic skills. Familiarity with the Windows computer platform is a must. A valid drivers license is required. Prior experience with CAD is helpful but not necessary.

Compensation: An internship stipend is available and will be discussed in accordance with each interns prior skills and commitment to the program. Room and board may be available in special circumstances for out of state students.
